Increasing Online Traffic with Forums

by Theo McLanahan

Most people who are used to using the Internet on a moderately regular basis are very familiar with forums and message boards and how to use them. These online communities let people get together to ask questions, give and receive answers, share stories, and forge relationships. As a website owner, participating in online forums will allow you to get in touch with other Internet Marketers as well as with individuals who could potentially become your new customers. For these reasons, forums can increase the volume of traffic your website receives.

Most forums allow you to add a signature line to your profile. You can choose to add your name, a logo or catchphrase that describes your business and a link to your website. Your signature line will be added to each of your posts, and as people read them, they may be curious about your business and visit your site.

When you are new to a forum, post an introductory greeting and let people know who you are. These forums are a great way to build relationships. However, it takes time to build relationships and establish credibility. Try to post regularly and avoid blatant advertisements of your business. Forums often attract a number of spammers whose sole purpose is to advertise their site. These spam messages are usually deleted by the forum’s moderators.

If someone asks a question that you have an answer to, by responding and being genuinely helpful, you will establish yourself as an expert in that topic. People will come to you with their questions and will trust your answers. They will remember you and be more likely to visit your site in search of more information on that topic.

The links you use do not all have to go to your homepage; you might link forum readers to your newsletter opt-in page. Having more newsletter readers will help boost traffic to your site, especially when you include links to new articles you have posted to the website in your newsletter.

Whenever you feature a special offer like an e-course or a discount on a certain product, let forum members know by posting about it. They will want to know so that they can take advantage of such special offers.

Since word of mouth advertising is an extremely good way to build up your business, do not be afraid to ask your friends on the forums to refer you to others. Doing so will make your business internationally known. Contacting other Internet Marketers on forums can also help you, as you may be able to get involved in some joint ventures.

Using forums to make new friendships, make others see you as an expert, and link readers back to your website will all help you increase the traffic to your site.

Societal Issues: Killer Cows

by Rick London

My name is Truman Cowpoke and I write mooooder mysteries. I write about the life of cows, violence, and yes, even bovine death. Words cannot express the horror I feel, as a mystery writer of true cow crime while researching the death and destruction that can occur in “greener pastures”. Of course there are no cowincidences and anyone who says there are may just be full of bull, surely udderly ridiculous.

I could write words describing the moohem and destruction of this beast, and do no justice. Even the late great author of “Being There” and “Painted Bird”, Jersey Cowzinsky or pop diva Bovinna, who sang and performed Mooterial Girl so beautifully, could feel my emotions regarding violence in the bovine cowmunnity. I don’t even think The Boss, Bruce Holstein could (even though he was “BORN IN THE USDA”) But cows are just farm animals. Not a lot of justice in such cowmmunities; unlike, say Bambi and other artistic animals. The Deer Artist, oh starry starry night, Venison Van Doe, may have stroked it with a brush, but never ever the lonely cow.

Is cow violence a part of organized crime? We have heard rumors of the legendary Al Cowpone and his La Cudstra Nostra, but not much is known about them. More recent legends of course include the more gentle cow, Demi Moooer, Hugh Heffer, and the like. But the cow is poetic. How can we ever forget Bulliam Shakespeare’s “Moo be, or not moo be?” And you tell me cows have no talent? Got calcium?

So to blow off steam, I jog a bit, even prepare myself for the Bullston Mooathon, though chances are skim I’ll make it to the finish line. Just cuds I love cows doesn’t make me odd. Many a cow-lover has gone on to become a legend in his own mind. Take Alfalfa for instance. We all know his famooos saying, “I dub cows!” And truly, who could we take more seriously than Alfalfa (even though Alfalfa is eaten daily by cows). Maybe he has some Mooosochistic cowacteristics, who knows, if Alfalfa said it, it must be true.

So there. If you don’t want to hear about cows, how to solve the social problems that are so prevalent in their lives, then moooooove along little doggie. I don’t want my epitath to read “He Cowld Have Done Better”. I believe I’ve milked this story for all it’s worth.

Interesting Dachshund Facts

by Lee Dobbins

Probably the most strangely shaped dog in the Hound category is the German Dachshund. The Germans developed this odd little dog to hunt badgers, where his long body and short legs helped him with the task. Consider these fascinating Dachshund facts:

The Dachshund’s defining feature is its long body and short legs. This breed comes in three varieties, including wirehaired, shorthaired and long haired, and dogs of each variety come in three different sizes. Dachshunds belong to the AKC hound group.

The German Dachshund has an elongated, muscular body and short legs. It has an elongated head, convex skull and eyebrows that stick out. His jaws are pronounced and muscular. He has a friendly and active expression, with dark oval eyes (eyes can be brown, black or even appear red). His long ears flop down. The upright tail is aligned with his back.

The American Kennel Club determines acceptable ranges for height and weight for the breed. These Dachshund facts stat that a standard size Dachshund should 14 to 18 inches long, and weigh around 20 pounds. A dwarf or miniature Dachshund should be between 12 and 14 inches long and weigh around 9 pounds. A toy should be less than 12 inches and weigh around 8 pounds. An average lifespan is 12 to 15 years.

Dachshund coloring can be solid or two-toned. Solid coat colors include yellow or tan. Common bi-colored combinations include bright chestnut with black, brown or grey marks. Other patterns include piebald or even harlequin.

Although loving and extremely loyal, the independent Dachshund can sometimes be difficult to train. They tend to be a bit high-spirited, and they love to dig, so be sure to watch your yard for holes. In general, the long-haired dachshund may have a bit more serene temperament than the agitated and sometimes silly wire hair.

One problem dachshunds face is that they have a tendency to be lazy and gain weight, adding to their other health risks. As with humans, they increase their chance of heart disease, diabetes, urinary tract infections and back problems.

The shedding rate of German Dachshunds is about average, as compared to other breeds. The shorthaired variety is the easiest to care for in this regard, as it generally only needs rubbing with a chamois or soft cloth. Longhaired varieties will need to be brushed every day. It’s a well known Dachshund fact that the wirehaired Dachshund’s grooming is a little more complicated, and will probably need to be seen by a professional dog groomer every six months or so.

A Look At Model Train Scales

by Bill Murphy

If you have decided that you want to design and build a truly elaborate and intricate model train set, you will also need to work to determine just what scale size you would be most interested in building it to. There are some things to take into consideration before deciding what scale to use so that you can pick the one that best works with your needs and wishes.

To begin with, the word scale quite simply refers to the reduced sized of something which is related to the original from which it is being copied. The HO model railroad scale is the most popular one. It is a 1:87 scale. Roughly seventy percent of people who design and build model trains use this scale in their constructions. The HO has some variations such as the Nn3 and the Hon3. These variations only change the space between the tracks, making it narrower than that of the HO scale.

The HO scale has become popular because it can fit into most homes but is not so small that it is difficult to work with. The minimum size for an HO model railroad is 4′ by 8′. HO model trains are easy to operate and look great when displayed in shows. It is also easy to find new pieces for HO scale model trains.

Other common scales include N(1:160), O(1:48), G(1:24) and Z(1:220). There are more scales than these, but they are less common and harder to find.

The N scale is about half the size of the HO scale. N scale model railroads are difficult to design well because of their small size but are also quite charming to watch running for the same reason. The work that has to be done to the train motors and the delicate details related to such small scenery require very precision work. Although working on such small trains can be frustrating, the finished product is very rewarding.

Z scale model railroads are another third smaller than even the N scale, which means that people with bad eyesight, big hands, or other difficulties simply cannot work with this scale of model train. One distinct advantage of Z scale trains, however, is that they can be positioned in places that you would normally not expect to see a model train, such as a businessman’s office desk.

Even though they are no longer as popular as they once were, many model train enthusiasts still like O scale trains. These were designed to make realistic noises as they crossed the tracks.

Children’s toys were traditionally made in this size since they were large and easy to play with.

Chiropractic Marketing - Get New Patients From Social Media

by Dr. Matthew Loop

Even established chiropractors have seen a slowdown in their business because of today’s economic crunch. Threatened with financial jeopardy, many are looking for new, updated marketing tactics that set their practice apart from the same old marketing techniques used by others in the industry.

Times have changed dramatically over the last 3 years and so has the communication dynamic. The learners will adapt and prosper while the learned will suffer severe economic consequences because of dinosaur ways of thinking. If you are one who looks to stay on the cutting-edge of new marketing and technology then you take action and establish a presence on social networks like Myspace, YouTube, and Facebook.

I’ve been teaching chiropractors and many other professionals to leverage social media (like the above mentioned) for the last 3 years now. I’m the author and creator a system that has literally transformed the chiropractic profession and the way successful chiropractors market overnight.

When I was first on these social networks, I knew there had to be a way to harness and leverage them to get massive amounts of new patients coming into my office. That’s when I began the countless hours and months testing and perfecting a system that continuously gave me incredible results.

The main problem I see when chiropractors get on these social networks is that they begin to spam other people with blatant advertisement. This is a problem because people hate this and you will end-up being booted off the network. Now, of course, the proper thing to do is to seek a mentor who has already been there and done that so you can have the pure essentials and good how-to information. Few do this though, as they think they are the experts.

Web 2.0 is suddenly a huge buzzword, and while chiropractors and everyone else are trying to catch up, I’ve already established myself with several years of cutting edge methods that are proven to generate new business. For example, last month alone I made over $5,000 from a single YouTube video that I posted. The time I’ve invested in this marketing is minimal and the returns are extraordinary. If you aren’t learning about social networking you are just not interested in making more money.

Similarly, video marketing has become enormously popular on YouTube. There are millions of videos on the site, and you are competing with some of the most interesting stuff ever captured on a camera. You don’t have to be Steven Spielberg, but there has to be some kind of thought put in to your video presentation.

The fun and profitability of social networking is unparalleled in the world of marketing. For those who understand how to use these sites, you will see immediate benefits from being a part of them. However, it is important to understand the ‘lay of the land’ and to have an experienced guide as you set out to conquer your own corner of the internet.
